Tremendous First Year of GCSE Results at HLAW
Harris Lowe Academy Willesden is celebrating its first year of GCSE results, with our Year 11 cohort achieving truly fantastic results!
Outcomes have surpassed 2023 results, and once again improved upon our pre-pandemic cohorts since 2019.
As well as an increase in the average grade, there has been a notable increase of students achieving the core basics of GCSE English and Maths, with 44% now achieving at least a good pass (grade 5) in both, and 61% achieving grade 4 or better in both.
"I am delighted for our founding Year 11 students at Harris Lowe Academy Willesden," said Principal, Josh Deery. "Their results reflect their hard work throughout their education and will enable them to take the next step in their education.
"We look forward to many of our Year 11s joining our sixth form and continuing to flourish within our academy. I know our students are grateful for the care and support offered by every member of staff that has supported them in achieving these wonderful results; I join them in thanking them today."
Dream team. Francis and Nicole studied together and came out with six grade 9s, 11 grade 8s and two grade 7s between them.
Impressive individual performances
We are very proud of the hard work, resilience and determination demonstrated by our Year 11 students as we share in their celebrations today.
There were many impressive individual performances, each with a number of top grades:
- Sumaya achieved eight grade 9s and one grade 7 and is planning to study Maths, Biology and Chemistry at HLAW Sixth Form;
- Meriem achieved seven grade 9s and two grade 8s, making great progress along the way. She will go on to study Maths, Biology and Chemistry;
- Ibrahim achieved five grade 9s and four grade 8s and is planning to study Maths, Physics and Economics;
- Flavius also achieved five grade 9s and four grade 8s and is planning to study Maths, Further Maths, Physics and History at HLAW Sixth Form.
- Qi made great progress too and will be studying Maths, Physics and Economics at HLAW Sixth Form.
Amongst our success stories is Diana, who arrived in the UK and started her journey at Harris Lowe Academy Willesden a few months after the war began in Ukraine. She has been exceptional from the moment she arrived. She achieved grade 5 or better in all or her GCSEs and is continuing at HLAW Sixth Form for her A-Level studies next year.
Absolutely stunning results for these students who worked so hard and are thrilled with the outcome. "Their results reflect their hard work throughout their education," said Principal, Josh Deery (pictured left).

Opening results is always an emotional affair. Every year there is lots of joy but also some students who won’t be so happy. That's why our entire senior leadership team as well as our independent careers adviser is on hand today to support and advise on each of out student's next steps.
