Superb First Set of Results at Harris Lowe Academy Willesden
Harris Lowe Academy Willesden is celebrating its first year of results, with students achieving excellent results across A level and vocational qualifications.
Our A Level students have performed exceptionally well, achieving a B grade on average across all subjects. Our students have once again improved on the results of previous cohorts and surpassed 2023 outcomes nationally and within our highly competitive borough of Brent.
Overall, our students have achieved our strongest ever examination results, with 58% of students attaining A*-B grades and 86% attaining A*-C grades.
Our vocational students have also achieved extraordinary outcomes, achieving a Distinction+ on average in Applied General subjects. Due to their hard work, alongside expert teaching, students at Harris Lowe Academy Willesden have achieved around a grade better than national outcomes for 2023.
University of choice
“It truly makes a difference to your life chances to attend our sixth form," said Principal Josh Deery. "We are delighted that over 90% of our students secured a place at their university of choice, with a quarter of our students attending Russell Group universities next year. These excellent outcomes reflect the hard work, dedication and ability of our staff and students."
Mr Deery highlights that it is not about headlines, "but about all the individual stories of success with so many of our students being the first in their family to attend university".
Outstanding success
With three top A* grades, Diogo Miguel Da Rocha Lima is off to the University of Warwick where he will study Mathematics. Despite this great academic success, not just in his A Levels but through his seven years at our site, Diogo is understated, humble and has modelled great discipline and independence to students across the academy.
Special congratulations are also due to Hassan Abdo, with straight A and A* grades. He is off to UCL to study psychology. Luiza Olescu, another top-performing student, will also read psychology at King’s College London. Both students were known for being incredibly diligent and reflective.
Our vocational students excelled themselves too, with Rayvven St. Bernard off to study accountancy at Brunel, Ahmad Tahan who will be studying Business with Finance at City and Ali Shahin taking up a Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship at Imperial College London.
Our sports academy students continue to gain scholarships and professional contracts around the world. Zubin Davidson is known as one of the best ‘slashers’ in the country and has earned an athletic scholarship to Western Canada Prep. This basketball programme is one of the best in the world, with graduates regularly going on to NCAA division 1 and 2 programmes.
Finally, we would like to pay tribute to our art department, where half of students taking Art and Design were awarded a Distinction, the highest grade available. Samir Laamairi, Khaalida Oseni Badru and Haniya Khan have all secured places at University of the Arts London. Isaiah Stewart also secured a Distinction and his work was selected for the Royal Academy Young Artists’ Summer Show.

"Years of hard work"
“These results don’t just reflect a great first year of Harris Lowe Academy Willesden, but years of hard work before that by our students and talented staff," added Principal Josh Deery. "With a great set of results, our students are now ready to take the next steps towards achieving their very bright futures. I feel privileged to see the impact this cohort have on their community.”
Some of our top performers, with 7 A*s, 3As and 2Bs between them: Luiza is going to King's College London to study Psychology; Victor is going to King's College London to study English; and Hassan is going to UCL after a gap year to study Psychology.

Maciej is happy to be going to Loughborough to study computer science. Mohammed has been accepted into the police constable degree apprenticeship to train to be a detective! Mohammed says: "I will miss Harris Lowe sixth form - my friends and the support from the teachers."
Diogo achieved A*A*A* and is going to Warwick to study maths. Diogo says: “I worked hard but I couldn’t have done it on my own. I had good support from my teachers, from everyone who taught me. I’m so happy and relieved after all the work I’ve put in, I’ve glad it’s paid off.”
